The price of Redmi 9i has leaked online before the launch date of the phone in India on 15 September. The phone is teased with a water-screen-style notch and 3.5mm audio jack support. It sits alongside Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, and Redmi 9 Prime phones, which have already been launched in the country. Redmi 9i availability has been confirmed on Flipkart and Mi.com. The Redmi 9i is said to sport a larger display and come with a bigger battery.

91Mobiles and tipster Ishan Aggarwal leaked that the Redmi 9i will start at Rs. 7,999. If true, it will be slightly more expensive than the Redmi 9A, but the base is cheaper than the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9 Prime models. Redmi 9i is also designed to come in two RAM + storage configurations – 4GB RAM + 646GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage. The price of 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage configuration has not leaked. The phone is expected to come in Midnight Black, Sea Blue, and Nature Green color options. These are the same options that Redmi 9A offers in India.

Like all other phones of the Redmi 9 series, the phone has been called a water-back-style notch. It offers 3.5mm audio jack support and has all the physical buttons on the right edge of the screen. In addition, a dedicated page on Mi.com states that Redmi 9i will offer microSD card support for storage expansion, will come with gaming-centric features, can adapt to the camera, and can pack a larger battery. The phone has been teased to run on the latest MIUI 12.
