C-DoT, the technology arm of the Department of Technology (DoT) recently launched the Sanchar Saathi platform to track lost/stolen mobile phones. The service is available across the country and allows smartphone holders to track as well as block lost/stolen mobile phones.
Sanchar Saathi utilizes the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). It is free to use and was running as a pilot in some of the telecom circles including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and North East.
